Overviewing Originalism

Keith is too modest. In addition to O'Neill, I would swear by his
Constitutional Interpretation (1999), as long as books make the cut for
an "overview."

I'd suggest Jonathan O'Neill's Originalism in American Law and Politics
(intellectual history) and Gregory Bassham's Original Intent and the
Constitution (analytical). Bassham is a bit dated, but is very good on
the 1980s. Dennis Goldford's The American Constitution and the Debate
over Originalism probably gives more of an account of the debate between
the originalists and their critics in the 1980s. O'Neill is a friendly
commentator. Bassham and Goldford are sympathetic critics.

A student asked for a good overview of the originalism debate. Does
anybody have a nomination for one that's particularly well done, or
perhaps two, one representing each broad side?
