Is It Fair for Sen. Dodd to Claim Chief Justice Roberts Misled Him on Abortion?

Dear Conlawprof list,

As the only Democratic Senator running for US  President who voted to confirm 
Chief Justice John Roberts, Sen. Chris Dodd had  some explaining to do at the 
April 26 candidates debate. But, did Dodd's  explanation for his vote to 
confirm Roberts really make sense?
