We continue to seek contributors for a book on the relationship between
law and magic. We have a commitment from a publisher, expressions of
interest from several scholars, and are now seeking additional
individuals to participate in the project. We are particularly
interested in encouraging lawyer-magicians and magician scholars to
consider participating. Topics include but are not limited to the
regulation of fortune telling or other crafty sciences, the
copyrightability and patentability of magic acts and devices, magic and
the law of evidence, magic and trial practice, the use of magicians as
expert witnesses, the legal issues raised by practices such as voodoo,
and issues of gender equity in the magic profession. Chapters are due
by September 1, 2007 and will run approximately 20-30 pages. If you are
interested or want further information, please contact me off-list.
Please feel free to forward this call for contributors to appropriate
lists.
