My two amendments

I tend to think that you'd have to agree that all of the amendments Matt mentions, plus the 19th and 25th, were unambiguous if not essential improvements to the original Constitution. In general, though, I'd say the amendments have done a pretty good job overall: There'd be only one or two amendments of the 27, if that, that I wouldn't have wanted to add.

The conversation travelled in a new direction while I taught a class.
But I'll take the question to me as, which one or two of the 27
amendments that have been added to the U.S. Constitution? Okay, I
committed a slight hyperbole and my list is actually almost twice as
long. The one that I think we couldn't have done without is the 12th.
Two that became politically necessary although their objects could have
been accomplished otherwise are the 13th and 15th. For good measure I
would throw in the first sentence of the 14th and its section 5, and
leave it at that.

Then again, I can only think of one or two constitutional amendments I
would ever have added to the original Constitution, from among all those
we have had.
