Roberts on pay raises

Thanks for the kind words, Bobby.  A Marxist friend of mine (yes, 
libertarians can be friends w/ Marxists) reacted in a similar fashion.  
He wrote:

"I agree totally, good article.  It is a public service to be a judge 
and that should be the primary reward.  They get great perks, an easy 
schedule,  and lots of clerks.  165k is not that bad!  The complaints 
suggest something deeper -- and more sinister -- namely that judges 
align themselves with law firms and compare themselves to law firm 
partners.  But why should they do that -- why not compare their salary 
to public interest lawyers and prosecutors?  It reveals a naked class 
bias."
