Regarding Hispanic heritage, it should be noted that there were Jewish communities in Spain for fifteen centuries prior to the Expulsion in 1492. Best. N

Cardozo was plainly influenced by his Jewish heritage. Is there any
evidence he was consciously influenced by his Spanish heritage, or even
aware of it? Unless his ancestors went through forced or simulated
conversions, they had left Spain by 1492.

It is a real stretch to equate Sephardic with Hispanic in the 20th
century, even given that literally the words mean the same thing.
