Chief Justice John Roberts?

Dear Colleagues: It seems entirely possible that John Roberts will be tapped
for the vacant seat of Chief.  Is there anyone out there who is familiar
with nomination and confirmation procedures who knows, procedurally, how
this would happen?  Would the Pres need to re-nominate Roberts for Chief and
withdraw the prior nomination?  Would Roberts need to do another round of
courtesy visits?  Would the confirmation hearings get rescheduled?
