the right of loving couples to marry?
Loving couples marrying is not the definition of marriage by law in most
states, and uniformly not the definition of marriage by reference to common law,
history and tradition. Loving couples composed of one member of gender A
and one member of gender B, of course, is the definition of marriage by law in
most states, and uniformly the definition of marriage by reference to common
law, history and tradition. (And before the pot shots get shot, the "loving"
part, of course, is not, strictly speaking, part of the definition).
