Miers as Chief Justice?

I'm bewildered by the nomination of Ms. Miers. That aside, for those
defending the choice, would you remain in her camp had the President nominated her
for Chief Justice? There's a difference in the positions, to be sure. But
aren't the qualifications for Chief Justice someone who would make a good
Justice--whatever that entails--and one who has significant management skills? For
defenders of the selection of Ms. Miers as Associate Justice, does that
description accurately characterize her? Does George W. Bush think that
description depicts Ms. Miers?
