The stark contrast I  referred to is between our congressional method of 
removal and voter  initiatives. There are other possible legislative techniques of 
removal and  even hybrid strategies of legislative removal and voter 
initiates.
 
        My posts in this  thread attempted to make two points: (1) the 
present system is flawed and  (2) we must recognize its flaws before we can 
seriously discuss alternative  institutional designs.  In short, we should open a 
dialogue about  alternatives. But to do so we must recognize the existence of a  
problem.
