Meaning of "Under God"

I hate to say it, but I also said it without "under God", and we gave the 
military salute (also in Girl Scouts), and no information on "opt outs".  My 
homeroom teacher in the 8th grade was our Latin teacher, so as an indication of 
how rote the pledge truly is, I know it much better as "Fidem meam obligo vexilo 
civitae americae foerdaratarum (or something like that) et rei publicae pro 
qua stat uni nationi non dividendi cum libertate justitiaque omnibus."  Betsy
