Plain and Simple Facts about the Revolutionary Era

I have two questions about the revolutionary era (arbitrarily, from
1770--1785, say). First, is there a concise account of the militarily aspects
of the war itself (how many battles did Washington win? lose? what was decisive
in the British defeat)? Second, how many people supported the revolution and
the war? where these are distinguished), and how this support might have
changed during this period. Unless, there's significant controversy about the
answers to these questions, I'd be happy to receive replies off-list.
