I'm not sure about "better" (without having criteria to use) but I would "nominate"
David Savage (Los Angeles Times) and Lyle Denniston as first-rate reporters of the
Supreme Court; Denniston tends to take a somewhat more critical stance -- as well as a
stance critical of much coverage of the courts.
