History, law, and cite-checking

When it comes to judging the book, perhaps. But in fact, most of
the debate around the book has occurred because the publisher
chose to present it in a particular way -- and the author has hardly
been shy about going along with that. Thus, one of the ways in
which the book should be judged is with regard to whether it lives
up to the advertising, or whether it should be placed in a category
with baldness cures and weight-loss devices.
