Miami-Dade ballots

Mark Tushnet earlier suggested that the fact or prominence of
reporting about pro-Bush outcomes in the media recounts of ballots in
Florida are more likely a result of parochialism (whether the
newspaper was involved in the recount) than liberal bias (which I had
suggested). Today brings further evidence to support Mark's thesis:
On the basis of a count of the undercounts conducted by Knight Ridder
and the Miami Herald, it is reported that Gore would not have
gathered enough votes to overcome the Bush lead. As I understand it,
this story is given great visibility and front page treatment by
Knight Ridder newspapers, while being largely ignored by other media
outlets.
