Dear Professor Lipkin:
We teach con law at Montana as a required 4 credit one semester
course in the second year. We cover both the structural material and the
rights material, though we have to make some editing cuts to fit it all
in. The other thing we do is I coteach the class with a philosophy
professor but he sits in mainly and acts as a sort of catalyst to push the
class discussions into interesting jurisprudential areas that the students
might otherwise not get to. Thus, he may disagree with things I say thus
starting a debate or he may disagree with various students in a somewhat
provocative manner. We tell the students in the first class that this
will be his role and, for the most part, I think it works rather well. As
an aside of course, it's amazing that he's got the commitment level to the
program to do this besides his other work. Hope this info helps. Best
wishes.
