Our law school has introduced an online sexual harassment training
program, developed by the New Media Learning Center.

Sample instruction:

Harassment of any kind is bothersome, demeaning, irritating, and
annoying
behavior. Sexual harassment is simply harassment of a sexual
nature.

Pre-test Question 1
While at work, Janet frequently makes personal phone calls
to her friends. Her conversations are loud and generously
sprinkled with foul and obscene language. Her co-workers in
nearby cubicles cannot help but overhear her conversations.
Janet's behavior cannot be interpreted as sexually harassing,
because she is not addressing her language directly toward
her co-workers. True or False? [the correct answer is identified
as false]

The Law
      Hostile Work Environment
A hostile work environment is one in which unwelcome conduct of a
sexual
nature creates an uncomfortable work environment for some members
of
the community. Examples of this conduct include sexually explicit
talk,
sexually provocative photographs, foul or hostile language or
inappropriate
      touching.

Conduct of a sexual nature may consist of sexually explicit behavior or
comments, sexual innuendo or behavior or comments that are sex-based or
directed against someone because of his or her gender.
