Judge Lewis in Leon County--a Democrat who upheld Katherine Harris's
decision.
Judge Jorge LaBarga in Palm Beach County--a Republican who encouraged the
canvassers to look at dimples.
Judge Burton in Palm Beach County--a Democrat who as far as I can see has
tried to be scrupulously fair even when it cost Al Gore votes.

Subject: Legal sincerity

I've been looking for people who have taken positions contrary to their
political interest or ideology on legal issues in Florida. I don't count
the Dems on the military ballots, because they seem to be walking a thin
line and assessing their interests as time passes.
I've found one -- William F. Buckley wrote a column accurately predicting
what the Florida Supreme Court would do and approving of such a decision.
Anybody got any others?
