According to the online New York Times, the Florida Supreme Court just
ruled that recounts must go on until at least Sunday night.

``Although error cannot be completely eliminated in any tabulation of the
ballots, our society has not yet gone so far as to place blind faith in
machines.''

The New York Times also reports that Bush lawyers had previously said that
if this happened they would seek an emergency appeal to the US Supreme
Court.

It also says, like other news sources, that the recounts don't seem to be
giving Gore enough votes to pull ahead based on the consensus ballots --
but the NYT suggests that Democrats are saying the margin exists if
'dimpled chad' ballots are counted.

The Florida Courts site is currently overloaded so I haven't been able to
read the actual decision yet.
