Citation help

I am looking for the original source of the distinction between the "Big-C"
Constitution (i.e., the written Constitution) and the "Little-C"
constitution (i.e., the nature or fundamental makeup of the political
regime).  I use this distinction in class all the time, but I'm not sure
who originated it.  Please reply privately (lasser at clemson.edu) unless you
think something is of general group interest.
