I apologize to Eugene for suggesting that he was committed to "neutral standards." It is true, though, that I do associate a lot of the people who support striking down the Washington Act (on more than simply "overbreadth" grounds) with those who have indeed criticized me and my friends over the years for insufficient commitment to law qua law, which, it is often suggested, means a commitment to neutral principles and a quite rigid separation of law from politics. I am glad to hear that Eugene is not in that camp.
