FROM THE LIST CUSTODIAN

Folks: I realize how important and interesting this discussion is,
but let me just mention that a quick count shows that in the last 14 days,
there have been about 650 messages on the list, virtually all about the
constitutional issues raised by the election.

Obviously, there is much more left to say, but I suspect that at
this point many things that we might think of saying, and might very much
want to say, have already been said before. (I certainly know this is so
about many of the comments I've been inclined to make.) Moreover, I suspect
that some list subscribers have a hard time keeping up with a traffic level
of about 50 messages per day, and about 65 messages per weekday.

Might I ask that people think extra hard before each post, to decide
whether what they are saying indeed exposes new ground, or deals with an old
issue in a way that sheds some new insight? This is only a very tentative
request, and one that I have been hesitant to make; but I suspect that quite
a few list members might echo it.

        Eugene
