Yes, she was.
AND she made incendiary statements, incited resistance that was violent
to others' bonds, was likely the deal-breaker repeated times, and has no
visible insight into other people loving Elian -- such insularity is very
human (I recognize it in myself) but hers has been sustained and
damaging to the boy. She obviously cares much, but not well.

Let's not be overeager to bash Marisleysis. First, her father turned Elian
over to her to care for--you didn't think HE was going to do child care, did
you? Next, she bonds with the boy. Then,he's snatched away from
her. She
certainly seems like an unstable character, and she did act just the way
you'd expect a 21-yr-old to act, with about as much maturity as
Monica--but,
dammit, she was used.
