I reply to this clip from Prof. Eastman:

 It is the character of a
totalitarian regime that all persons in it (save for the governmental masters) are
slaves; there is thus no possibility that Elian could return to anything but slavery.

Are you suggesting that only Castro is the master of the country or that people who work
in the state police apparatus are also among the masters?  If Elian's father had such a
govt. job, would that in your eyes render him a master rather than a slave, and therefore
his son also free rather than slave?
I am curious how you would analyze the question in a communist country of who are the
masters.
