on 2d amd

I reply to sandy's 2d amd comment--
I am now convinced that the received wsdom, pace the law rev. lit., is
currently that the 2d Amd protects the rights of citizens to own and keep
their own guns.   I wonder if Sandy or any of the other authors who write
in that direction or others convinced by their articles believes therefore
that it is now desirable (since gun control laws are desirable in the US)
that we amend the Constitution to restrict the reach of the secodn amdmt.
I ask because there is a parallel situation re the ERA--some might say, why
bother amending the Constitution, since the Sup Ct has already "fixed" the
situation.
