Our Cause:
This year, our focus will be Somalia. Somalia is suffering its worst
drought in years, and the lack of rain and pastures is leaving
families unable to cope with the loss of food and livelihood. Over 2.4
million people are dependent on emergency humanitarian assistance as a
result.
Drought and famine are only intensified by the two-decade long
conflict that has left the country divided and made it very difficult
for humanitarian aid to reach those in need. More than a million
people have been forced to flee their homes as a result of this
violence.

About Us:
Mighty Mic is a student-run organization at UCLA that works to spread
awareness on campus and in the community about international human
rights violations. Each year, we choose a different humanitarian issue
to focus on, and we spend the year hosting educational events and
planning our grand finale ? a concert in the spring that aims to
combine art and music with education and activism. The Mighty Mic
concert is a multi-media showcase of musical performances, speakers,
and educational material, and attracts more than 2,000 attendees
annually. All the money raised goes to a charity of our choice
pertaining to the year?s issue. Mighty Mic is the largest benefit
concert on campus, and is fast becoming a beloved UCLA tradition.
