Subject: Genomics Position at University of Notre Dame


Colleagues,

At the University of Notre Dame, we have a brand new cross-College Institute:
the Eck Institute for Global Health.  We also have a brand new genomics core
facility.  These are components of a large investment in research at Notre
Dame, intended to expand our critical mass through hires of top-notch faculty,
especially those willing to embrace multidisciplinary collaborations.  Among
the 4 hires ongoing this year is one for a genomicist. (Please see the attached
Position Description).  It is in this regard that I am contacting you.

We are doing the usual postings of job adds in Science/Nature and also at
meetings.  However, as I know each of you, I thought I would approach you
"personally" to find out if any of your trainees might be appropriate for this
position.  If so, I hope you'll encourage them to apply (or consider applying
yourself!).  In fact, please let me know if you have someone in mind, as I'd
like to phone and personally encourage them.  Even if you are not aware of
potential candidates, I'd be grateful if you could spread the word.
