Mediber -- Medieval Iberia List

About Mediber
English (USA)

WELCOME TO MEDIBER

MEDIBER is an on-line discussion list (accessible via Internet)
devoted to all aspects of Medieval Iberian Literatures, Languages,
History, and Cultures. We take Medieval Iberia in its broadest
sense--geographically, chronologically, and culturally. We hope
that MEDIBER can serve as a shared resource and on-going conversa-
tion among scholars working in a variety of disciplines: art,
architecture, codicology, musicology, history, historical linguis-
tics, and literature. MEDIBER welcomes queries and comments in all
the modern romance languages of the Iberian peninsula and in
English.

MEDIBER offers a forum for discussion of the medieval Catalan and
Galician-Portuguese traditions as well as of those cultures which
arose in central Iberia. We also hope that medieval Islamic,
Jewish, and Hispano-Latin cultures will have an important place on
MEDIBER. As with any list, however, MEDIBER will soon adapt itself
to the interests of the people who participate in it. The list
owner has no rigid program in mind for this list and no aversion to
controversy, as long as arguments are carried on in a manner
appropriate to the public nature of the list. Ad hominem attacks
should be studiously avoided. This is an unmoderated list. I rely
on your discretion.

New subscribers may wish to submit a brief biographical sketch and
an outline of their current interests, though this is not a re-
quirement. Students and people outside the academy who have an
interest in things medieval Iberian are welcome on MEDIBER. We
will try to keep things as informal as possible.
