GKLC -- GIS Kids Learning Community

About GKLC

The GIS Kids Learning Community (GKLC) is a Southern California-based confederation of researchers, scholars, policymakers, practitioners and other parties interested in innovative projects and research methods for understanding the spatial dynamics of child and family well-being. The GKLC provides an opportunity for members to share current research products, build mapping and spatial analytic skills, and network professionally. Starting in October 2008, the GKLC will meet quarterly, alternating between Healthy City headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles and the UCLA Center for Healthy Children, Families and Communities in Westwood. Each meeting will begin with a presentation by a member or invited guest regarding a data collection, data mapping, data analysis and/or data dissemination project focused on child and/or family outcomes. The goal of the GKLC is to expand knowledge and local expertise regarding the spatial nature of child and family well-being, including school readiness and learning, health and mental health, safety, and service access and utilization. Membership is open.
